The reason I read this book was kind of silly. The examples bounce between Java and C but they should be readable by most developers.

It also has a good walkthrough of a case study at the end, which leads you through the selection of appropriate patterns to solve specific problems.

The authors present practical advice on designing code that connects an application to a messaging system, and provide extensive information to help you determine when to send a message, how to route it to the proper destination, and how to monitor the health of a messaging system. This book has not really stood the test of time in my opinion. There are many gaps in my book, and I never intended it to be a complete collection of patterns for enterprise development.

Moreover, in the world of “reactive” designs and principles this resource demonstrates the ways of integratjon and asynchronous integration patterns. This is another book I wish more developers had taken a look at. It basically describes OOP applied to software architecture, and there are many solutions to old projects I could have designed better if I’d recognised this from the patterns in this book.

Well apparently it’s far more complicated than all that, and this book proves it. The book does a good job of balancing the explanation of the patterns and their combination into solutions. Gregor maintains a site with a lot more information on jntegration integration with messaging.
