Boy, was I glad I did! However, the book that that premise promised was not the unfected I got. Just when I thought I knew what abyss he was leading me across, he knocked the bridge out from under The fate of the human race may well depend on the bloody war Perry must wage with his own body, because the parasites want something from him, something that goes beyond mere murder.
Infected is a crazy, impressive concept that’s written from every possible viewpoint. Pick it up and try anyway.
Though Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is best known for his detective stories, he also wrote other short stories which are masterpieces of mystery and suspense. Infected is an original story that’s well told, thought provoking, and fun to read. From page one, the story of a mysterious smart-virus that turns its hosts into deadly drooling drones creeps up on a reader like the ratchet of a roller coaster climbing toward its inevitable crest.
Slgler essence, that ruined this novel for me. Perry heads for the ifnected while Margaret has a showdown with the CDC.

Infected was the book of Sigler’s I most eagerly anticipated infevted when I initially saw the synopses and it is likely the one that most sticks in my mind. Horror books don’t scare me, and neither did this one.
The infection is starting to impact Perry’s concentration, his tolerance, and his ability to control that nasty violent streak of his. Meanwhile Perry Dawsey—a hulking former football star now resigned to life as a cubicle-bound desk jockey—awakens one morning to find several mysterious welts growing on his body.
But like I said, it was very violent, incredibly bloody, and well too angry for me, so if there is another novel in this series coming along, I don’t think I can read or listen to it.
The book focuses a lot on Perry’s struggle and the most horrifying and grotesque scenes stem from him battle with the infection. This book gave me the feeling that all this was happening in r Scott Sigler is a podcast author – 1 on every aggregator, icluding Itunes. I found myself drudgingly trying to get to the end. Look out Stephen King.

My stomach actually churned a few times. Discovered by Player FM and our community — copyright is owned by the publisher, not Player FM, and audio streamed directly from their servers. Hence I am giving this four stars, where I would have given it five. And the descriptions of the “infection”–triangular-shaped parasites who feed off of human nutrition and thought, are described in gorey detail, which is fine, but much of it becomes gratuitous as the reader stops caring if the main characters beat this thing or not.
Infected is a book with a somewhat unusual publishing history. Sigler seems to channel Stephen King or Richard Matheson in finding the everyman who is in some bizarre circumstance and trying to figure out how to react to it.
The triangles are equipped with a survival mechanism that includes a whip-like tail and burrs. Try the Kindle edition and experience these great reading features: The government has been tracking a strange disease with numerous outbreaks in the Michigan area. There was only one cringeworthy moment for me, which was Perry’s career-ending injury, but thankfully that was just a passing reference.
The problem is, that really is where things stop.
It was a strange feeling. We are experiencing technical difficulties. It did one better. Infected is a revelation — a novel that lives up to its hype.
Nor are we given any real, strong characters to balance Dawsey out–especially when female characters are on camera. The infection consists of triangular shaped growths on the body. Meanwhile Perry Dawsey — a hulking former football star now resigned to life as a cubicle-bound desk jockey — awakens one morning to find several mysterious welts growing on his body.
The narration is primarily through the perspectives of Perry Dawsey, an ex-football player with an anger problem, and Margaret Montoya, an epidemiologist with the CDC who is investigating a strange disease that turns seemingly normal people into murderers.
